Dialogue on Gas Prices
East Fishkill, NY/June 23,2008 - Kieran Lalor's Congressional
campaign is making sure that voters in the area see for themselves
what John Hall''s disastrous policies have meant for gas prices.
Lalor is the Republican candidate seeking to unseat first-term
Democrat John Hall.
Drivers passing by Lalor's campaign office in East Fishkill will be
hard-pressed not to notice an enormous new advertisement outside the
office,– reminding voters that a gallon of gas cost $2.31 when Hall
took office but now costs more than $4.00.
"The increase in energy costs hits families and working Americans
hard," Lalor said. "Many small business people are being crushed by
rising gas prices. Home heating oil now costs $4.50 per gallon,
which is double what it was 12 months ago, and the price continues
to increase. This alone will severely impact senior citizens and
others on fixed incomes."
"I want to open a dialogue on energy policy. We want voters to know
where I stand on energy prices and how this contrasts with John
Hall's dangerous and naïve policies."
"We have to enhance America's supply with more drilling and
refining, cut energy taxes, reduce the regulatory burden, and
encourage private innovation."
Lalor pointed out that he has been talking about John Hall's broken
energy policy since the current crisis was beginning more than a
year ago. Lalor added that his five-point plan, released in April,
and featured in an upcoming Poughkeepsie Journal editorial, has
served as a roadmap to other proposals about how to lower energy
prices. Lalor also said that he agrees that clean energy
independence must be this generation's 'Manhattan Project.'
